Offices in Europe and in the World

Government Representation in Property Affairs in Europe

In many European Union (EU) countries, there are offices with functions similar to the Office of the Government Representation in Property Affairs in the Czech Republic. As with most EU countries, this office protects the state property and represents the state interests in this field.

Basically, there are three fields of activity in analogous institutions within the EU:

  • representation
  • legal consultating
  • management of the state property

In some European countries (the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden), there are no central institutions, and the state is represented by attorneys through individual contracts. Austria, Italy, France, Spain and Great Britain have a similar system to the Czech Republic. Generally, we could say, these offices have the character of institutions providing complex legal services for the state. In Central and Eastern European countries, there are plenty of offices managing the state property and these offices are an essential part of the transformation process and privatization.
